How does jewish gematria work

jewish gematria is an ancient method of interpreting and encoding words and phrases using the Hebrew alphabet. It is an esoteric form of numerology that assigns numerical values to each letter of the alphabet, which can then be used to interpret words, phrases, and sentences in a wide variety of ways.

The letters in the Hebrew alphabet are represented by numbers ranging from 1 to 400. Jewish gematria assigns different numerical values to each letter based on its position within the alphabet. The first 10 letters have a fixed value corresponding to their order in the alphabet: aleph = 1, bet = 2, gimel = 3, dalet = 4 etc. This makes it simpler to use the system.

In Jewish gematria, most words are broken down into component letters which then each have their own associated numerical value. These component letter values are then added together to create a total numerical value for a given word or phrase. This total numerical value is then used to find a deeper meaning or interpretation for what was encoded. For example, if someone were looking for insight into the meaning of their name 'David' using Jewish gematria, they would break down David into its component letters dalet (4), vet (6), yud (10) and final mem (40). Adding these numbers together gives us a total of 60 which is the encoded meaning of David's name according to Jewish gematria.

In addition to assigning each letter with a numerical value, Jewish gematria also assigns certain words with predetermined values that remain constant regardless of spelling or pronunciation. For example, 'shalom' (peace) always has the same numerological value no matter how it is pronounced or spelt out in full; and it is simply coded as "300" according to traditional gematria standards.
